ABSTRACT
Pregnancy induces a variety of hormonal, vascular, and immunological changes that can significantly affect the oral cavity, particularly the periodontium. Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease of the supporting structures of the teeth, has been increasingly linked to adverse pregnancy outcomes such as women. preterm birth, low birth weight, and preeclampsia. This review explores the complex relationship between pregnancy and periodontal health, emphasizing the bidirectional nature of their interaction.
