AI in Dental-Medicine: Current Applications & Future Directions

ABSTRACT
This paper examines the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern dentistry. By analyzing dental images, patient data, and clinical records, AI algorithms are enabling more accurate and efficient diagnoses of conditions like caries, periodontal disease, and oral cancer. AI is also assisting in treatment planning for orthodontics, prosthodontics, and implant dentistry, leading to improved outcomes. Furthermore, AI-powered tools are enhancing patient communication and education. This review explores these current applications, discusses future directions such as AI-driven drug discovery and robotic surgery, and addresses key challenges including data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the need for robust regulatory frameworks.
